I never expected to be anyone’s white knight. That’s not a role I’ve ever played.
But when the Casso crime family shifts into uncharted territory, they’re looking for a new hero, and they’re looking for me—Cannon Freeman, the black sheep.
But my time in disgrace is at an end.
It’s my turn to rise up and save the people who matter most to me.
Even if my family has never given a damn about me, I will not let them fall.
More than anything, I will not let her fall.White Knight is the second book in the Dirty Mafia Duet and should be read after Black Sheep, book one.
WHITE KNIGHT
by Meghan March
Buckle up, people!
I LOVE when authors can surprise me with their twists. WHITE KNIGHT? Full of them! There are some major developments in the second installment of the Dirty Mafia Duet, which picks up where we left Drew and Cannon. It starts out with a bang and continues in the same manner.
Pretty much every character in this book surprised me to some degree because no one, who is somehow involved with the Casso family, is actually what they seem, even capo Dom Casso, the most ruthless of them all. I still don’t understand the issue he had with Cannon and I kinda wished for a proper resolution for their complicated relationship. It’s not what I got but at the end of WHITE KNIGHT Cannon had Dom’s respect and I’m A-OK with that.
I was hurting for Cannon when he tried so hard to reconnect with Creighton, his half-sibling, only to be rejected again. Not having read the Dirty Billionaire Trilogy I was really mad at Creighton. This is a complicated world they live in, their father is a master manipulator – I hated that Cannon’s brother had such a hard time to find forgiveness for the man who was used as a puppet by their father when he was a teenager.
I loved, no, absolutely adored Drew and Cannon’s deep love, that was palpable throughout the whole story. Cannon’s first instinct at all times was to protect what was his and that was all kinds of romantic and endearing. I was totally crazy about these two. I’m so glad that the deception in BLACK SHEEP wasn’t dragged out and found a quick, satisfying resolution.
I don’t think I need to say how much I enjoyed Andi Arndt and Sebastian York’s performance. They are like the proverbial old married couple – they just work.
WHITE KNIGHT was everything I expected and hoped for. It was a thrilling, whiplash inducing ride with two beautiful characters I just couldn’t resist. They made me fall head over heels for them. I’m giddy that most preceding books about the supporting cast in this duet are enrolled in the Audible Escape package, just like The Dirty Mafia Duet. I have A LOT of catching up to do and can’t wait to start with DIRTY BILLIONAIRE.
So glad that you enjoyed this so much Astrid! I always hear wonderful things about March’s audiobooks and will definitely have to get one. I LOVE her twists, so I’m sure that I’ll end up with a whole series – those cliffhangers can be killer! Great review hon!
