Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka His Royal Hotness, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant; hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.
Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn't bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.
Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.
Dating a prince isn't what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.
There's a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they've traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces, and haven't chopped anyone's head off lately, the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.
But to Olivia, Nicholas is worth it.
Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King... or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

Being under 24 hours scrutiny by the whole world is a burden. Additionally Prince Nicholas has the responsibility of being heir to the throne of Wessco. That he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders isn’t just a saying for him, he lives it every single day. Expectations run high, especially the ones about his future bride. And Nicholas is ready to the task for the benefit of his country. When he meets sweet and beautiful Olivia Hammond he doesn’t expect her to soon become the one thing that is going to make him question everything he’s knows up until then.
Infamy is temporary, celebrity is fleeting, but royalty…royalty is forever.
Olivia has the one thing Nicholas doesn’t. Freedom. To go out whenever she wants, without security men tailing her. To do whatever she wants in public without it being scrutinized to great detail. Their whirlwind affair starts on a night, when the crown prince of Wessco enters her family’s coffee shop. Their time is limited though, because Nicholas can’t just marry a commoner, who isn’t even a born citizen of his country. They intend to get the most of their summer together, knowing that after that they’ll have a lifetime without each other.
I should’ve left her alone. I should’ve walked away the moment I started to feel…everything. I had no business trying to keep her. It will forever be the cruelest thing I’ve ever done.
I think what worked for me in this one was how all in both of the main characters were. Neither of them held anything back and both intended to soak up the present. It was so exhilarating to see them falling in love. It was a love for the ages. Of course there was the shadow hanging over them, that it would end at some point, but here’s the thing – I knew it would all be good in the end so I planned to let it play out and see where this goes.
I loved Olivia. She was beautiful, kind, smart with more pride than was good for her (which I was glad for in the end, however). Nicholas’s title didn’t impress her, it didn’t change the fact that he was a man with emotions, sensual, adorable when he wanted to be. She wanted to lift the weight he carried, at least for the time they had. Nicholas could be an idiot just as much as he was amazing. It’s why I was so disappointed in him later on. In the end everything worked out the way I wanted it to though and our royal prince grovelled beautifully. It could have been a little more but it always could, right? And damn, that man is so not noble in the sack. It’s where he lets go of all inhibition and royalty and just…is.
I want Olivia. In my bed, on my cock, over my face. And I want her to know it.
Together they take months of their lives, forget conventions and expectations and live every moment they have together to the fullest. And isn’t that something we all want to do? That and being the center of a princes universe is what makes this story so freaking romantic. Royally Screwed is predictable, definitely that. Cute. Light. But it’s also a story that will make you dream and sigh happily, swoon and laugh. I had so much fun reading this one and now I’m curious about Henry! He sounds a little broken!
Emma Chase is becoming a favorite and fast. I love her humor, her very pleasant writing style, her characters and stories.
