Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.
And that his best friend has a crush on me.
And that I just moved in with them.
Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?
I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?
He knows where to find me.
by Elle Kennedy
She is, hands down, one of my top three favorite NA authors. Elle Kennedy writes them like few others and I. JUST. CAN’T GET. ENOUGH. When I heard that Fitzy would get his story I would have dropped everything to read his story. I wouldn’t have been above begging for an ARC. Good thing I didn’t have to (but I’ll keep my options open definitely for the next in this series).
God. This Girl.
Summer was THE. BEST. You know, I rarely click with female characters easily. Sure, I like the, even love them, but Summer? A class of her own. Not only is she totally endearing, adorable, cute and all the sweet attributes you can describe her with. She’s also a kickass friend, who has no trust issues whatsoever. Summer is sunshine, you want to be her friend, her best friend, the one she confides in, the one you bury bodies with. She’s the one who always stands up for a sister. God. This girl. Her sass, her loyalty and love for the people close to her, her sense of humor, willpower and vulnerability, to me she was the perfect heroine. I also worshiped Summer’s friendship with Brenna – these two are spirit animals and totally get one another.
Summer has this way of completely losing herself in fits of laughter. It usually involves tears, doubling over, and furiously rubbing a stitch in her side. When she laughs, she does it with her entire body and soul.
Admittedly Fitzy gave me a rash. He didn’t treat Summer well for half of the book. He didn’t appreciate her for the gem she was, was scared of opening up to her and invited thus the one thing he hated most: drama.
My unicorn is no longer a unicorn. He’s a judgmental donkey.
Being an introvert isn’t easy, especially in an exposed function as a hockey player but he had a hard time formulating the way he felt about Summer although it was so obviously there. Instead he ran and hurt her knowing that he would. He wised up though and ultimately he grew into a man worthy of this precious woman. He really came through for Summer.
So the house of the guys from the Off Campus series is now occupied by students we have met before. It was so good to meet Garrett, Tuck and Dean again. And can I say…Tuck with his baby girl?
The new guys look promising – I’m going out on a limp though and bet that a certain Harvard football player will play a big role (hopefully as a main character) in one of the upcoming books in this series. If you buy this book you’ll get a little sneak peak of THE RISK, which will be Brenna’s book and a so far unknown hero. I’m sitting on pins and needles. Can it be February already?
When Elle Kennedy writes a new story you can bet that I’ll bite. It’s like the proverbial carrot dangling before my eyes. She has that amazing, youthful writing style with a high coolness factor that I love so much. She is one of my unicorns, an author who hits the mark with me every single time. In Elle Kennedy fashion her storytelling keeps your Kindle glued to your fingers, reading in rapt attention through page after page, gobbling up the NA goodness we are being served. Briar U follows in the steps of the Off Campus series and those are some big boots to fill. However, mission accomplished.
“I’m going to die if I don’t have an orgasm.” Her tone is grave. “Like, actually die. And then you’ll have to explain to my father how my death could’ve been prevented if only you’d finished going down on me. My father, Fitz. Is that really what you want?”
