Stacking The Shelves is hosted at Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality & The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer.

I have combined these two in a Weekly Wrap-up post because I’m a lazy bum.

I bought a couple of beautiful books this week. I’m excited about them all – I actually started Nalini Singh’s already because I just finished the first in the Psy-Changeling Trinity series “Silver Silence” which was amazing! So I figured I just might as well start the original series which I heard amazing things about!

No ARCs this week and I’m not unhappy about it!

I got rid of my braces this week. Yay! Been waiting for this for eight months. I’ve also gotten back into the routine of working out a couple of times a week and I feel so much better. I also bought a couple of new workout clothes which motivate me even more.

My stepdad is in hospital with kidney failure, one of the reasons I didn’t post a wrap-up last week. He’s improving now, thankfully. It was really scary for a while.

I should actually start to get into crunching mode for my exam but I decided I’ll take it in September. I won’t be able to make it until the beginning of June. It gives me more time to prepare. It means studying a little over the summer but that’s OK.

I also received great book related news – Thea Harrison accepted me on her review team – that pretty much made my year. She writes one of my most favorite PNR series.

  • MY OXFORD YEAR by Julia Whelan is one of the best books I’ve read this year. I adored the setting, the humor and the characters.
  • LENNON REBORN by Scarlet Cole checked all my boxes. Rockstar? Angsty? Likable Characters? Check, check and check!
  • THE SPIRAL DOWN by Aly Martinez is a sweet MM Romance. Both main characters were delightful.
  • LOST FOR YOU by Jayne Frost – another Rockstar Romance with lots of angst. I loved that the author didn’t shy away to write about the ugliness of drug addiction

  • SILVER SILENCE by Nalini Singh – I am so impressed by the world building of this story. It’s a sci-fi/PNR mix. Good thing I have already the next one, OCEAN LIGHT, waiting on my Kindle.
  • THE GOOD LUCK SISTER by Jill Shalvis – this author always makes me smile. If you need a pick-me-up grab this sweet novella. I will have a spotlight post as well – you will be able to read the first chapter on the blog.
  • KNOTTED by Pam Godwin – I’ve read this author the first time and it was pretty intense.

That’s it from me this week. Let me know in the comments if you’ve read some awesome books I need to know about!

  • Congrats on the review team! How fun. And best wishes to your stepdad- that must be scary. Hope all goes well.

That Random is pretty awesome :):):

  • It’s just how the school schedules has always been. The younger kids don’t have school at all on Wednesdays, so they have a little break in the middle of the week. I think in some ways, it’s good – lots of sports and other extra-curricular activities take place on Wednesday afternoons. However, it also makes the other days longer, as everybody in high school has at least 32 hours of classes each week.
I’m lucky, I’m auto-approved with Gallery books on Edelweiss, which is how I was able to snag that JR Ward book 🙂 I hope you’ll be able to get your hands on it soon, Astrid!
    Have a wonderful week yourself.

  • Congrats on getting on the review team that is quite an accomplishment! Also congrats on getting your braces off. Have a wonderful week!

  • I hope your stepdad only has acute kidney failure and not chronic. Being stuck on dialysis can be life-changing. However, I used to work in dialysis, so I know plenty of people who have made it work and lived long and healthy lives after their diagnosis. Good luck to your stepdad!

    • Hi Rachel! Thank you for your words. They are very much appreciated.
Yes it was acute, he’s doing much better today and will probably be released next Wednesday. I’m really relieved!

  • First I am happy your in law is doing better! Now you had braces??? I had braces at the young age of 33 and I was so happy when they were taken. You can now smile with all you teeth LOL.
Amy Knight cover is stunning by the way! I hope the insied matches the outside!
And I think you are courageous studying AND working at the same time so having the exams in September is already a high feat Astrid!
    Happy Sunday xx

  • I have wanted to read Nalini’s books for so long, I love a good PR/Scifi. Congrats on getting your braces off, I hope you feel good!! You have some really great looking books that I am definitely checking out-like Lennon Reborn, and Jill Shalvis. I hope you have a great week!!

  • My favourite book this week was Blood Type by KA Linde! But the cliffie may have killed a little part of me… Add that to the events of Avengers: Infinity War and I’m fragile, lmao.

Glad to hear things are picking up for your stepdad. Fingers crossed he continues getting better quickly!

  • Sounds like a busy week Astrid! I’m glad your stepdad is doing better. I imagine that was plenty of stress alone! No ARC’s? Lucky you! I’ve overcommitted again – no surprise there! Ugh! =D

    • Thank you, honey! He’s being released tomorrow so I’m happy.

      Haha I used to over-commit A LOT…but I’ve learned my lesson lol.
