THERE ARE NO DOUCHEBAGS IN THIS STORY.
Well, there are, but they’re not who this story is about.
This story is about me—the coach’s daughter.
When I moved to Iowa to live with my dad, the university's take-no-prisoners wrestling coach, I thought transferring would be easy as pie—living with my father would be temporary, and he'd make sure his douchebag wrestlers left me alone.
Wrong on both counts.
ASSHOLES ALWAYS COME OUT OF THE WOODWORK WHEN THE STAKES ARE HIGH.
A bet is placed, and I'm on the table. After one humiliating night and too much alcohol, I find the last nice guy on campus. And when he offers to rent me his spare bedroom, I go all in. It’s time for the nice guy to finish first.
Midnight chats and spilling my problems turn to lingering touches. Lingering touches turn to more.
And the ultimate good guy has the potential do more damage than any douchebags ever could.
The Coaching Hours
by Sara Ney
Anabelle needs to move out. Living with her overbearing dad, coach of the wrestling team, is driving her bonkers. Suhweet that her new friend Elliott has a room free. And when daddy dearest asks Elliott undergoes a sex transformation and becomes Ellie.
Elliott has been Anabelle’s knight in shining armor on several occasions, he has her back, they get along extremely well. But late night television sessions lead to accidental touches…until they aren’t accidental any longer. But what does a gilr do when she falls in love with her roommate who is only going to stay until the end of the term?
Anabelle is a lovable heroine, she is pretty drama-free, extremely forgiving and sweet as candy. I understood why she fell head over heels in love with Elliott, he is a good guy with his heart in the right place. I loved their connection and friendship.
Elliott has a plan. One he isn’t willing to give up for anything. He is determined to go to one of the best grad schools in his fields of study. I admire determination but there comes a point when you have to readjust your goals when unforeseen events happen in your life.
“Where do you want to end up?”“I don’t know. I’m from Iowa, but I’d rather not stay in the area. There’s nothing for me here.”A hard lump forms in my throat. “I see.”“Do you?”
I loved Elliott for a good part of the book, he was lovely with Anabelle and a wonderful friend but at some point the decisions he made had me disconnect from him. That we only got to see Anabelle’s point of view from that moment on until the end didn’t help either to help me understand his thought process.
I understand that Rex Gunderson is a troublemaker and while he was a douchecanoe in the beginning he really grew on me. Of course the first douchebags Zeke and Oz made a cameo appearance.
This is my first full length novel by Sara Ney. I love her sense of humor, there were parts I laughed out loud. Overall this was an adorable and lovely college romance, very entertaining and in parts hilarious. I am looking forward to reading more Zeke’s and Oz’s story.
